Hospital is proud to have a nursing staff in the surgery department who gives personalized care to patients before and after surgery. This department has an outstanding surgical site infection rate of less than 1 percent over the past five years. This lower than average number demonstrates the exceptional skill, commitment, and consistency of the staff. High-quality equipment is used in the operating room to accommodate a variety of inpatient and outpatient procedures.

Memorial Hospital offers endoscopic procedures such as an EGD (Esophagogastroduodenoscopy) or a Colonoscopy. These types of procedures can be performed with comfort and ease as an outpatient surgery. Memorial Hospital now offers Wireless Small Bowel Capsule Endoscopy. This high-tech device contains a camera in the capsule that collects data and sends it to a recorder worn on the patient's waist. Images are then downloaded at the physician's office.
