Where do I begin?
If you are not referred to us by your primary care physician, we can help you initiate a referral.
Call Comprehensive Pain Solutions at (785) 263-6684 to set up a consultation.
You will be asked for your insurance information and may discuss payment options
with one of our patient financial services representatives.
Before your consultation, you will be mailed a questionnaire. Please fill out the questionnaire
to the best of your ability and return it to us before your appointment. On the day of your
appointment, please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled time
and check in at the registration desk.
What happens at the consultation appointment?
During the consultation, you will be asked questions and have a physical exam.
A treatment plan that may include one or more of the services we offer will be personalized
to meet your individual needs. We will then set up your follow-up appointments.
Will my health insurance cover these services?

what your insurance will cover, call the clinic at (785) 263-6684.

What is an epidural steroid injection for back pain?
While we offer several different treatments for pain, including trigger point injections
and nerve blocks, the majority of our patients opt for an epidural steroid injection for back
pain. This is a block that is performed under fluoroscopy, a type of X-ray, to decrease
pain and inflammation.
How is it done?
A local skin anesthetic is given. A spinal needle is then inserted into the epidural space
of the lower back. An anesthetic and steroid are then injected into the epidural space.
How long does it take?
On average, the procedure takes thirty minutes plus recovery time.
What are the expected results?
Therapeutic injections have two potential benefits. The first is the potential for long-term
pain relief. After a therapeutic injection, the likelihood of significant and lasting pain relief
will vary according to the source of pain and the specific injection, but typically is in the
50%-60% range. The second potential benefit of a therapeutic injection is that other
treatments such as physical therapy will be much more effective during that time.
The combination of the injection and additional treatments, as ordered by your doctor,
may then eventually lead to long-term pain relief.
