Who Can Receive Home Health Care?- Back to top
To qualify for Home Health services covered by Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance, an individual must have a qualifying skilled medical need and a physician must order those services. To meet Medicare requirements, a person must be homebound. Home Health is approved for third party payment.
How Do we Access Home Health Care?- Back to top
Referrals may be made by a physician, social worker, neighbor, relative, minister, the patient, or other community service agencies. A free home care assessment can be completed to assist patients to determine which program will suit their personal needs.

SKILLED NURSING CARE
- Teaching
- Wound Care
- Diabetic Care
- IV Therapy
HOME HEALTH AIDE
- Exercises under supervision
- Light housekeeping
- Personal care (bathing, nail care, etc.)
- Assistance with activities of daily living (Examples: Laundry, Shopping)
RESTORATIVE THERAPY
- Physical Therapy
- Occupational Therapy
- Speech Therapy
- Nutritional Therapy
MEDICAL SOCIAL SERVICES
- Assistance with referrals to other community agencies
Patients' Geographical Location - Back to top
- Home Health and Hospice of Dickinson County, Kansas will accept patients who reside within Dickinson County, Kansas.
- Within a radius of 20 miles from either Abilene or Herington offices (if outside Dickinson County).
- Discretion may be used by the Director under special circumstances in accepting a limited number of patients beyond these boundaries.
