Child Birth Classes - Back to top

WeChild Birth Classes will work with you to make the coming months a truly meaningful and rewarding experience for you and your entire family. We offer childbirth educational classes to help you prepare for birth.

During the six-week class, registered nurses skilled in obstetrics will help you in the following ways:

  • Answer your questions and concerns about pregnancy and parenting
  • Learn how to prepare your body for this experience.
  • Learn about the changes the baby will make in your life and body even before it is born

Diabetes Self-Managment Education Program - Back to top

This program consists of one-on-one consultations that help outpatients to learn more about managing their diabetetes. A Registered Dietitian and Registered Nurse teach the program and design indivdual plans for each patient. The goal of this program is to enable patients to sucessfully manage their own diabetes.

Newborn Care - Back to top

After your baby is born, our staff is available to answer questions and to offer newborn care education during your stay.

  • Bathing baby
  • Breastfeeding
  • Cord and circumcision care
  • Car seat and seatbelt safety.

The attentive and well-trained staff will answer any questions or address any concerns you may have while here and you may call us if you have any problems or questions after returning home.

A lactation consultant is available to discuss any questions the new mother might have about breast-feeding. The consultant’s service can even be utilized for support after the new mother and baby leave the hospital.

Nutritional Counseling - Back to top

Having a registered dietitian to counsel individuals about nutrition, is just another way Memorial Hospital is “Caring For You”. Inpatients or Outpatients can be counseled on topics such as cholesterol-lowering diets, weight loss, diabetic diets, or any other nutrition-related subject.

Sibling Classes - Back to top

Sibling Classes Sibling classes are available by appointment for children ages 3 and older whose parents will be delivering at The Stork Station.

The class consists of touring the birthing unit, watching a video, "Hey What About Me," and answering questions. Children in the sibling class receive a snack, coloring book about baby, and a picture of themselves to put in their new sibling's crib after delivery.
