Physicians representing a variety of medical disciplines visit Abilene on a regular basis to see patients in the hospital's Outreach Clinic. ASTYM, which stands for Augmented Soft Tissue Mobilization, is a non-invasive therapy that treats soft tissue injuries through the use of patented instruments. The ASTYM treatment has been shown to be effective treating damaged soft tissue resulting from injury, surgery, or other stresses. It helps eliminate scar tissue problems and rejuvenate muscles, tendons, and ligaments.

EGD (Esophagogastroduodenoscopy) - Back to top
Memorial Hospital is pleased to offer an array of procedures such as EGD (Esophagogastroduodenoscoy) to people in the community. This procedure is used to examine the stomach and esophagus.
Endoscopy - Back to top
Memorial Hospital offers endoscopic procedures such as an EGD (Esophagogastroduodenoscopy) or a Colonoscopy. These types of procedures can be performed with comfort and ease as an outpatient surgery. Memorial Hospital now offers Wireless Small Bowel Capsule Endoscopy. This high-tech device contains a camera in the capsule that collects data and sends it to a recorder worn on the patient's waist. Images are then downloaded at the physician's office.

goal of Occupational Therapy is to increase overall independence. MHS Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine treats patients of all ages. Services include the use of:
• Various modalities;
• Orthosis fitting and training;
• Adaptive device and compensatory techniques training;
• Wheelchair positioning and adaptation;
• Activities of daily living training;
• Ergonomics assessment;
• Disability analysis; and
• Hand therapy.

Our Speech-Language Pathologists help patients suffering from communication, speech, language, and swallowing disorders. Services are available to anyone from newborns to elderly. This
specialized therapy is offered by Rehabilitation Services and Sports Medicine at Memorial Hospital and Abilene High School for student athletes. It involves not only the treatment of sports-related injuries but preventive education for safe participation in competitive sports, fitness, or recreational activities. The sports medicine program offers concussion management services, providing baseline screenings for student athletes prior to the beginning of the season to use as comparative data in case the athlete has a concussion. Data is compared so the physician may make an informed return-to-play decision.
