The ROSE (Rehabilitation of Special Elderly) Unit is an area renowned program, which focuses on coping with the stressful issues associated with aging. These issues include grief, loneliness, dealing with an illness or a physical disability, changing roles in status, conflicts with adult children, death, and dying.

Welcome to the ROSE Unit. I am Marcel Shoemaker, Unit Director. I understand how difficult it can be to make decisions regarding a loved one. I believe that the ROSE Unit is a place with a positive atmosphere where older people can grow and heal emotionally and physically, as well as spiritually. Possible Signs that an Older Adult could be Experiencing Problems

What Does this Unique Program Feature?

It features a free confidential initial assessment, which is performed by a Mental Health Professional to assist in determining the need for treatment. A diagnosis and a treatment plan are formed after a comprehensive evaluation of the patient’s physical, mental, and emotional condition is performed.

Each patient has a treatment team of medical and clinical professionals that works with the patient in groups and individual settings. This team works together to pinpoint the nature of the problem and help the patients and their families begin the recovery process. Family involvement is definately encouraged.

The goal is to maintain and improve each patient’s quality of life. The program works to enhance the quality of life for a patient and increase their self-respect and dignity. The program emphasizes a holistic treatment philosophy so equal importance is placed on healing the mind, body, and spirit.
